Everything You Need to Know About Restaurant Week

🍔 Restaurant Week in Weatherford is honestly one of the best weeks of the year. It’s the perfect excuse to try new spots, eat way too much good food (no regrets), all while supporting a local charity.

What is Restaurant Week? Restaurant Week is a week-long celebration where local restaurants offer special menus to showcase their best dishes. In Parker County, it starts next week, so get ready! Plus, a portion of the proceeds goes to Tarrant Area Food Bank WEST, so every bite supports local restaurants and families in need.

  • Ironworks Coffee

  • Shep’s

  • Zeno’s on the Square

  • 589 Hickory BB

  • The District Butcher

Civil News

We watched the commissioners’ meeting, so you don’t have to

The Parker County Commissioners met last night to handle a variety of topics, from Peaster Football to data centers. Here was an overview of the agenda:

  • Proclaimed Jan 12 as “Greyhound Day” to honor Peaster’s historic football season

  • Approving intership programs within Weatherford ISD

  • Discussed the potential of Data Centers within Parker County (see below).

  • Subdivision approvals, speed limit changes, and other budget items

Many were concerned about why Data Centers were being discussed. Commissioner Jacob Holt responded, “I put this on the agenda so the county can be proactive on this issue.” He went on to state, “I’m concerned about the impact on our limited water resources as well as the potential noise pollution that a data center could bring.”

The live discussion was great. Executive Director of the Economic Development Center, Chris Strayer, answered many questions. After hearing from him, it is important to know that we are not talking about Bitcoin mines. These Bitcoin mines, like the one in Hood County, are loud and require enormous amounts of water.

That is not necessarily the case with Data Centers, according to Mr. Strayer. According to Strayer, the Data Centers are quieter, use less energy, and require less water than Bitcoin mines. With that said, the water (150k gallons a day) and electrical usage is still quite extensive.

To be clear, there are no approved plans to build a Data Center in Weatherford. Mr. Strayer said the soonest a Data Center could be built is 2029.

January 13 Weatherford City Council Agenda

The Weatherford City Council will meet on Tuesday (tonight) at 6 PM to discuss routine city business and consider a few items:

  • Budget updates

  • Renewing the Emergency Management Coordinator

  • Deciding on contracts for waste disposal through Waste Connections Inc.

Seems like a pretty routine City Council meeting if you ask me! As always, these meetings are open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to attend.
