Happy Tuesday, y’all! Winter came late this year, but it showed up in style. I know I’m missing the 70-degree Christmas weather we had! In all seriousness, I hope everyone reading has been able to stay warm and enjoy all the beauty that the snow and ice bring.
In this week’s Weatherford Wrangler:
Snowfall totals
City closures
Our favorite cold-weather restaurants
Events and live music
Before we begin, we just wanted to give a shoutout to all of Parker County’s local law enforcement and first responders. The roads have been a mess, and we are grateful for the amazing police departments in Parker County that have been responding. Thank you!

❄️ Snowfall totals
Okay, let’s be honest, it’s mostly ice out there. Unfortunately, there are not many reputable weather stations that measure snowfall total online. However, we have heard from several locals. Accumulation varies greatly around Parker County. Downtown Weatherford has received around 2” of sleet and snow. Peaster and Aledo got 3.5”. Meanwhile, we have heard reports that Poolville got over 4”. Wow!
People were driving yesterday, but the roads will be more hazardous early this morning due to the hard freeze last night. The Parker County Sheriff’s Office is urging everyone to stay home if they are able.
⛔ All schools in Parker County are closed today
Weatherford, Weatherford College, Peaster, Mineral Wells, Brock, Aledo, Azle, and just about every school district we could find in Parker CO is closed today. Parents, good luck trying to beat the cabin fever! We anticipate many schools will cancel on Wednesday as well.
⛔ City of Weatherford updates
City offices will have a delayed opening at 10 AM today. This includes City Hall, the Library, and Municipal Court.
Trash and recycling pickup will NOT be happening this morning. Normal pickup will resume on Thursday.
⛔ Other closures
Hudson Oaks, Aledo, Willow Park, and Annetta city offices are closed.
All trash services for these cities are delayed until later in the week.
✅ Weatherford’s City Council Meeting for tonight has yet to be cancelled. If it happens, we will be watching. The big agenda items are a $1.1 million drainage project and a discussion on short-term rentals. Stay tuned.
LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Do you have cabin fever? Are you ready to get out of the house? I sure am. As roads begin to clear up this week, we wanted to encourage you to shop local as you begin to get out of the house. January is already a slow month for businesses, and this storm is not helping their bottom line.
So, we decided to put together a list of Weatherford’s top 7 best places to enjoy during winter weather:
🍺 Northside Remedy is the perfect spot to stop for a quick bite and some great drinks. It’s right off the square and is so cozy and great.
☕️ The Full Cup on Main Street might be the best spot on this list. What could be better than enjoying a hot cup of coffee in a bookstore during a snowstorm?
🍝 Pastafina was basically a weekly stop for my family growing up. Warm pasta and bread? Doesn’t get better. Give me some chicken alfredo to go right now!!
🥪 Yesterday’s is good in any weather, to be honest. But right now, I’m sure many of us were unable to find some bread while the grocery stores were raided. Which is why Yesterdays is the perfect place to go this week!
🍻 Antebellum Ale House was open on Saturday during the storm. Why? Because it’s the perfect spot to grab a drink or pizza. It might be the coziest place on this list!
🍔 Sheps is a go to in any weather. But are you simply looking for great food, service, and a warm place to watch the game? Sheps is the place to go.
🍜 Fun Noodle Bar is a must during chilly weather. Sometimes you are just craving a warm bowl of ramen or some orange chicken. Be sure to check them out this week!
Nothing in this section is sponsored. These are just things we want you to know. I will always let you know when there is a sponsorship.
What’s Happenin’ Around Here?
Honestly, not much! It’s a pretty slow week with some events being cancelled due to the storm. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a reason to get out of the house, there are still a few awesome things happening around here!
