Happy Tuesday, everyone, and happy birthday to the one and only Grant Smith this week!! Grant is a good friend of the newsletter and was even a contributor a few weeks back. He’s referred multiple people (hence the birthday shoutout), and we would not exist without readers like him. We wish you the happiest birthday, brother!

THE DIGEST
🐑 Five-year-old Hayes Worthington rode into the mutton bustinhistory books with a massive 97 point ride at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Mayor Paul Paschall officially proclaimed March 10, 2026, as Hayes Worthington Day, celebrating our local Mutton Bustin’ Champion’s grit. Way to go, Hayes!
🏛 The Weatherford City Council meets tonight. On the agenda is a discussion surrounding a conditional permit for a liquor store in town (see presentation), school resource officers for WISD, and an official proclamation of ‘Lemonade Day’ for the city of Weatherford.
🍗 After thirty years and a marriage that started at the counter, Brian and Marsha Krier are officially closing the chapter on Baker's Ribs at 1921 S. Main Street to head into retirement. The local staple has been a fixture of the Weatherford community for as long as I can remember (literally). Such a great restaurant and great people that will be missed! It sounds like a dentist's office will be taking over the space next.
🔨 Last week, Weatherford College broke ground on its largest construction project in history. This five-story building is estimated to be about 100,000 sq ft and $100 million dollars to complete. According to the college, features will include a welcome center, centralized enrollment and financial aid offices, a wellness and veterans center, dining spaces for up to 500 guests, a student game room, a bookstore, and new board and meeting rooms. The project will be funded entirely through tuition revenue bonds, with no impact on local property taxes.
