One of the main reasons I am starting the Weatherford Wrangler is to share all the wonderful local businesses in this county. I grew up here, and it’s been amazing watching this place grow. This past year brought a ton of new business, so here is a wayyy too quick review of what all opened in 2025:

🏃 Weatherford Run Club: Come for the miles and stay for the people! WRC meets 2x a week and is free to join. Check them out on Monday at 6:30 PM at Heritage Park (Antebellum after) or Saturday at 7:30 AM at Pic Coffee.

The City of Weatherford’s 2026 budget is about $83.2 million. This is a 4% increase from last year. Here is the budget at a glance:

Also, the 2026 budget increases Hotel Occupancy Tax funding by $500,000 annually to support the development of a Tourism Center. While this signals a push to grow tourism and visitor spending, the budget does not approve or commit to building a hotel or convention center.

Of course, the city has talked about this for years. I know many of us are interested in seeing what becomes of this hotel/convention center. The budget did not imply that any concrete decisions would be made this year.

Mark your calendar: The next City Council meeting is on January 13th. As always, the public is allowed to attend.

🍔 Restaurant Week is coming up: Jan 19-25. Every meal you purchase not only supports our amazing local restaurants. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank WEST. Click the link above to view the participating establishments.

⛄ Winter Wonderland at Legacy Longhorn Ranch is happening on Jan 24th. There will be live music, food trucks, and hot cocoa. Bring the fam and explore the ranch!

👮 Coffee with a Cop returns to the Senior Center on January 15 at 9:00 AM. This is a lively event where you can chat and hear some awesome stories from our local officers.

🎭 Theatre Off the Square is kicking off the year on Jan 30th with Tennessee William’s The Glass Menagerie. Get your tickets here.
