THE DIGEST

🏛 The Cities of Fort Worth and Aledo File a Lawsuit Against Willow Park

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the cities of Fort Worth and Aledo have filed a lawsuit against Willow Park, claiming the city illegally annexed 321 acres of land for a planned $500 million mixed-use development near I-20 and FM 1187. They argue the land was not legally connected to Willow Park and lies within Fort Worth’s and Aledo’s extraterritorial jurisdictions.

The lawsuit seeks to invalidate the annexation and halt development, though no monetary damages are requested. The disputed property, owned by developer Robert Beall, could roughly double Willow Park’s sales tax revenue, making the case financially significant. Stay tuned, this should be interesting.

Early Voting Begins Today

Go out and vote! Early voting for the March 3 primary begins TODAY. This gives you two weeks to cast ballots before Election Day. State and federal positions are up for a vote; however, the local precinct and judge positions are a higher priority to most in Parker County. You can visit a list of the local, state, and federal candidates here.

Also, you can view polling locations here. These locations will be open daily through Feb. 27, including weekend hours. Residents can vote at any early voting site countywide through Friday evening for convenience

📚 Second Hand Bookstore Opens in Aledo

Local non-profit Friends of the Aledo Public Library is opening a bookstore, Second Story Books, in downtown Aledo at 213 Mesquite Street. Soft opening will be Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 10:00-2:00. Go check them out! Also, if you ever need a meeting space, they will have upstairs rooms that are available to rent.
